The Nutcracker was inspired by the easiest and most effective way to open a Nut if you don’t have a nutcracker: a mallet
Development of the shape
The shape was inspired by a stone used as a mallet to smash the nut. At first it was a simple cube that would be rounded for a better grip.
Modeling and Material
As a material i choose oak because it is a natural and hard material. On one hand, it is hard enough to smash a nut and on the other hand it has a natural relation to the nut itself.
The Final Model
Packaging
First i tried a few different shapes, colors and fonts for the packaging. I wanted to have something functional that fits the shape but is also describing the primitive use in a funny way.
